The Put God First Challenge
Prayer
Father,
You have called me to walk in humility, following the example of Jesus, who made Himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant (Philippians 2:6-8). Yet, I confess that pride so often rises within me—I want to be recognized, to be right, to be in control. But Your Word teaches that You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble (James 4:6). Lord, I do not want to stand in opposition to You. Help me to humble myself before You so that, in due time, You may lift me up (1 Peter 5:6).
Teach me, Lord, to embrace humility as a way of life. Let me not seek my own interests, but rather, in love, consider others above myself (Philippians 2:3-4). When I am tempted to boast or seek validation from others, remind me that true greatness in Your kingdom is found in serving (Matthew 23:12). Help me to live with the kind of humility that reflects Your heart. This humility does not seek recognition but simply desires to honor You.
Your Word says that humility and the fear of the Lord bring riches, honor, and life (Proverbs 22:4). Yet, the world teaches me the opposite, urging me to chase success, status, and self-promotion. Father, renew my mind so that I no longer conform to the patterns of this world but instead seek the things that please You. Give me the strength to walk humbly with You, knowing that You guide the humble in what is right and teach them Your way (Psalm 25:9).
I lay my anxieties before You, trusting that You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). I don’t need to prove myself or fight for my place—you have already called me Your own. My worth is not found in my achievements or the approval of others, but in being loved by You. Give me a heart that is teachable, quick to listen, and slow to speak, always ready to learn from You and from those You have placed around me.
Lord, let humility shape my relationships. Help me to forgive quickly, to serve joyfully, and to love unconditionally. Remind me that You dwell with those who are humble and contrite in spirit (Isaiah 66:2). May my life reflect the character of Christ, who humbled Himself in obedience to You, even to the point of death on a cross. And just as You exalted Him, I trust that You will honor those who walk humbly before You (Luke 14:11).
Thank You for the grace You pour out on those who choose humility. Continue to shape me, refine me, and mold me into the image of Your Son. May my life be a testimony of what it means to walk in the beauty of humility, trusting You to lift me up in Your perfect time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
