Day 29: Thankfulness
1 Thessalonians 5
Colossians 2
Psalm 107
Philippians 2
Prayer
Father,
Today, I come before You with a heart of gratitude. Your Word tells me to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is Your will for me in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Yet, I confess that there are moments when I take Your blessings for granted. Instead of focusing on what You have provided, I sometimes dwell on what I lack. Forgive me, Lord, and help me cultivate a heart that overflows with thanksgiving.
You are the giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). From the breath in my lungs to the people in my life, from the food on my table to the salvation of my soul—everything I have is from You. Thank You for Your faithfulness that never wavers and Your love that never fails (Psalm 136:1). Even in difficult seasons, I choose to trust that You are working all things for my good. Help me to see Your hand at work in every detail of my life.
Your Word calls me to enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise (Psalm 100:4). Lord, I don’t want gratitude to be just an occasional prayer; I want it to be a way of life. Let thanksgiving shape my attitude, my words, and my actions. When worry tries to take hold of my heart, remind me to pray with thanksgiving, trusting that Your peace will guard my heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7).
Jesus, I remember the story of the ten lepers You healed, yet only one returned to thank You (Luke 17:11-19). I don’t want to be like the nine who took their blessing and walked away. I want to be like the one who recognized Your mercy and fell at Your feet in gratitude. Help me to always come back to You with a thankful heart, never forgetting the countless ways You have shown me grace and kindness.
Lord, thank You not only for the blessings I can see but also for those I cannot. Thank You for protecting me from dangers I didn’t even know existed. Thank You for the prayers You answered with a “yes,” and for the ones You answered with a “no” or “wait” because You knew what was best for me. Thank You for the challenges that have drawn me closer to You and the trials that have strengthened my faith (Hebrews 12:28).
May my life be a reflection of gratitude. Let me be generous with my words of encouragement, quick to express appreciation, and eager to bless others as You have blessed me (2 Corinthians 9:11). Fill my heart with contentment, knowing that no matter what I have or lack, I have You—and You are more than enough.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
